New destination unlocked: we land in Mexico with The Phantom of the Opera

After more than twenty years, the most successful musical in history returns to Mexico.

The Phantom of the Opera, the phenomenon that sold more than 200 000 tickets the last time it set foot on Mexican soil, is back. This time it will enter the city through the great door of the Teatro de los Insurgentes, which will be renovated to receive this super production.

Starting November 5th, the Paris Opera moves to Mexico City with an official production that has thrilled thousands of spectators in Europe: great voices, a monumental technical display and —of course— the most tormented romance in musical theater.

The production, authorized by Broadway, is produced by LETSGO, MejorTeatro, Morris Gilbert, Claudio Carrera, Ma. Elena Galindo and Alfonso J. González. The version that will reach local audiences is an adaptation designed and made for CDMX, with scenery inspired by the original by Maria Björnson, but adapted with the latest technology so that, along with the drama of the story, it will give you goosebumps.

Are you going to miss the opportunity to see the most successful musical in history? We’re not exaggerating. The Phantom of the Opera is the longest running Broadway show, has been performed in over 40 countries, translated into more than 15 languages and has won major theatrical awards in both the United Kingdom and the United States: Drama Desk Awards, Olivier Awards, seven Tony Awards…

We put you in context so you now know what to expect from this mega production:

  • Music and voices you won’t forget.
  • A technical staging that will completely transform the Teatro de los Insurgentes.
  • A first class cast of Mexican musical theater.
  • Performances from Wednesday to Sunday (times to be confirmed).

With the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and songs that are anthems, such as Angel of Music, Think of Me or The Phantom of the Opera, it will be impossible not to get excited, we assure you.
