LETSGO returns to the north with the musical that will bring even more magic to Bilbao this Christmas.
A girl, a tornado, and a journey that will change her life forever.
This holiday season, The Wizard of Oz becomes the unforgettable adventure hosted by Euskalduna Bilbao. We’re bringing a refreshed version of the beloved classic to the Basque capital, completed with new songs, breathtaking scenery that transforms the theatre, and a story that will grip you from the very first moment.
You’ll meet Dorothy, a girl who dreams of a world beyond the rainbow. But when a whirlwind sweeps her away to the land of Oz, she begins a path full of challenges, unexpected friendships, and deep life lessons. We’ll be part of her journey and, together with her, we’ll discover —finally— that the most powerful kind of magic has always lived inside each of us.
This major production by LETSGO, in collaboration with Euskalduna Bilbao, completely reimagines the world of Oz, enriched with additional music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (the mind behind The Phantom of the Opera and Cats) and additional lyrics by Tim Rice (a true legend of musical theatre, from Jesus Christ Superstar to The Lion King). The show is based on the iconic film owned by Turner Entertainment Co., and is presented by permission of Warner Bros., Theatre Ventures and EMI Music Publishing.
You’ll reconnect with the classic characters —now with new layers and contradictions:
• Dorothy, the dreamer who learns that home is much more than just a place.
• The Scarecrow, the wisest of them all… without even knowing it.
• The Tin Man, who proves he has a huge heart — even without one.
• The Lion, who becomes a hero by facing his fears.
And of course, that mysterious Wizard, the one we’re all searching for at some point.
The Wizard of Oz will only be on stage for less than three weeks. In the most magical season of the year, it’s a unique opportunity to share a theatrical experience with the whole family and to end —or begin— the year with the story’s timeless message: sometimes, what we long for the most… has been within us all along.
