100K Tickets Sold Before the Opening and a Grand Premiere: Tim Burton, El Laberinto Arrives in Mexico City

The only immersive experience that takes you on a true journey through Burton’s universe opens its doors for the first time in Mexico.

After a triumphant European tour with over a million visitors, Tim Burton: El Laberinto has finally arrived in Mexico City —and it didn’t come quietly. The 100 000+ tickets sold before its opening were just a taste of what’s to come: the only immersive experience that lets you literally get lost in the corners of one of the darkest and most brilliant minds in contemporary cinema.

El Laberinto opened its doors for the first time on June 25th —in an exclusive preview for invited guests— at the Lienzo Charro de Constituyentes, which was transformed into a dreamlike capsule offering more than 300 possible paths through the experience. Yes, 300 different ways to journey through Burton’s imagination.

And to set the mood accordingly, Burton and his Labyrinth touched down in Mexico with all the grandeur you’d expect: red carpet, rain, Belinda, and a crowd of media and fans.

The experience began building anticipation on that June 25th with a premiere that was anything but conventional. Over 500 guests —including A-list celebrities, press, artists, and influencers— walked the red carpet at the Lienzo Charro to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Tim Burton himself, the mayor of the Miguel Hidalgo district, the honorary president of the Lienzo, and the hosts from LETSGO. Belinda, who served as master of ceremonies for the night, helped the director press the button that marked the official start of the immersive experience.

But Burton’s visit to Mexico extended far beyond a single event. Over the course of the week, the director immersed himself in the country’s soul. He strolled through Tepoztlán, sailed among the chinampas of Xochimilco (where he shared an intimate lunch with the LETSGO team and personalities such as Bárbara de Regil, in a gathering hosted by Punta Arena restaurant in collaboration with the ecological project Arca Tierra), and —of course— visited the chilling Island of the Dolls.

The most emotional moment came the following day during a one-of-a-kind masterclass at the Lote de Panaderos in the Panteón de Dolores, hosted by presenter Gaby Cam. There, under the rain and in front of 200 attendees —including students from Escuela Centro, influencers, press, and celebrities— Burton shared reflections, anecdotes, and deeply personal insights.

Media interest has been overwhelming: more than 100 outlets attended the exclusive press preview, where Sarah Brown (creator and Archive Manager at Tim Burton Productions), Felype de Lima, and Álvaro Molina revealed the inner workings of the Labyrinth. A special preview was also held for 65 influencers from the world of cinema and art.
As a grand finale, the opening celebration featured a traditional horse show at the Lienzo Charro, blending Mexican heritage with the surreal aesthetic of the Burtonian universe.

“It’s like stepping inside my mind,” in the words of the gothic master himself. Here, you choose your own path. Behind each door, a new world awaits. You’ll encounter Edward, Willy Wonka, the Headless Horseman —or echoes of Corpse Bride. And if you come back (and you will want to), The Labyrinth will reveal a whole new side of itself. Original sketches, life-size sculptures, and the most haunting —yet strangely heartwarming— atmospheres of Burton’s gothic cinema.
